DC surprisingly dropped two trailers for their upcoming movies Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Batman v Superman make’s it debut March 26, 2016. A grueling wait to see one of the most talked about fights of the century. Suicide Squad shows up a few months later on August 5, 2016. A movie that most people never knew they wanted to see.
Batman v Superman might hold the record of the longest super hero argument ever. Every kid, teenager, and adult decided to stand next to The Man of Steel or The Dark Knight. Really an age old story of man versus titan, but this time nobody needs to sacrifice a goat after telling the tale. Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck) fight toe to toe while Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg) and Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) introduce themselves to the franchise. This movie marks the beginning of the domino effect that leads to the Justice League movie.
Suicide Squad puts the bad guys in the position of hunting other bad guys. At the root it seems like another Aliens versus Predators movie, except not terrible. Suicide Squad holds the potential of showing character growth where AVP held peoples attentions until the second fight scene ended. Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevinge) and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Abgaje) make up the Suicide Squade team, a team that the government uses to do their dirty work. The trailer shows their dirty work involving battling The Joker (Jared Leto), a confrontation involving Batman (Ben Affleck), and not killing each other.
Both of these movie seem like their release provides DC the right to print money. Suicide Squad might not financially create the same impact that Batman v Superman leaves behind, but it still might come out ahead in quality. The last Superman movies made it difficult to keep hope in the super powered boy scout, but on the other hand the last 3 Batman movies provided a whole new cinema experience even if Batman sounded like he needed a Ricola cough drop. Combining a super hero with 2 bad films and one with 3 good films might leave enough room to make 1 good film. Everybody loves a blood bath though and looking at the trailer that seems like what Suicide Squad delivers. This film technically stars no good guy. Batman makes an appearance, but then he leaves to do bat stuff. The government that contracts these super villains to work for them sound like bad guys and the bad guys that pull the trigger look like bad guys. The one thing that makes Suicide Squad a better movie than Batman v Superman is how believable it is. The government total uses “bad guys” to fight other “bad guys”. Either way these films guarantee 2016 to hold at least 2 amazing films.
